A quick followup:

A few people independently pointed me to Salomon, so I've ordered
his book. Ordering takes a while: I will have to wait a month or
so before I can pick it up, unfortunately.

I did not want to be in 'idle state' waiting for that book to arrive,
so I bought a textbook on calculus (a bulky and, from the looks of
it, fairly serious one, by James Stewart). The idea is to refresh my
high-school memories while getting used to the english vocabulary
at the same time.

At the moment I have no interest in 3D, so I decided that a book on
NURBs would be a waste of time and money at this moment. But i've
printed and saved Laurence's list anyway, just in case I change my
mind in the future.
