[metapost] mpost does not work

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to use mpost to create a figure. I installed the texlive  
distribution through MacPorts, and now everytime I try to use the  
program it gives me this:

aaragon@~/Desktop/gfem TeX/trunk/gnuplot/inclusion$mpost  
mismatch0.0001.mp
This is MetaPost, Version 0.993 (Web2C 7.5.6)
(Fatal mem file error; I'm stymied)


I did some research and I found out that it may be a configuration  
problem, but I have no idea of what to change in my configuration  
file, since it looks quite different from what I've seen online. Does  
anyone have an idea of what's going on?
