cmyk to rgb for display.

Adobe Reader, on the other hand tries to get cmyk colors on
screen to match what a color printer would show on paper. My
impression is that cmyk colors tend to get muted, as if gray
were mixed in.

Of course cmyk is a color system intended for print and I feel
it is (up to a point) pretty much irrelevant how the colors
display on screen. The success of AdobeReader's efforts at
matching colors is very much dependent on both the screen and
the printer. When I need high quality color, I view on all
screens at my disposal (3 of them) and print on all printers
I have free access to (2). There is always some variation and
all I can do is make sure the worst is good enough.
