Maybe you have to convert it to PDF before.  Loading a PDF file works
here.  I suppose that Inkscape doesn't invoke ps2pdf properly.  I get
the error message 

    ps2pdf failed:
    Error: /undefinedfilename in (pslogo.eps)

But there's no problem when I run ps2pdf on the command line.
