here (linux ubuntu) both
pdfTeX 3.14159265-2.6-1.40.21 (TeX Live 2020)
pdfTeX 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.22 (TeX Live 2021)
give the same result.

You can test with
mpost -debug test.mp
that preserves temp. files
