You don't have to be a member of tex-k to mail to it -- if you're not a
member, then Thomas has to manually approve it (which he usually does
quickly), that's all. (This is necessary to avoid broadcasting spam to
the list.)
(Thomas, you might consider disabling the autoreply
respond_to_post_requests -- I've done that for almost all the other
lists, because (a) it causes misunderstandings, and (b) when the sender
is a (anti)virus or spammer, it just creates more bounces and mail to
deal with.)
