In the sources in TeX Live 2020, system poppler 0.87.0 is
already supported:

cp pdftosrc-poppler0.83.0.cc pdftosrc.cc
cp pdftoepdf-poppler0.86.0.cc pdftoepdf.cc

before compilation.
