I hope to have something soon after the weekend, maybe on Monday.

Right now I am making my succinct notes into something intelligible.

OK.

It fails during make in freetype/po, with an error message:
  `Makefile' line 95: Syntax error
As it turns out, the freetype/po/POTFILES list is not getting created, so
an empty string ended by '/' slips into the Makefile and Irix doesn't like it.

Actually, I patched it yesterday, just to see whether everything was OK,
but forgot to type the final 'make', so 2 programs were still missing
(they are on dante's site now). And I was puzzled today by not being able
to reproduce the error :-)
