That's true we would gain quite a lot of space : not as much as the
compressed image but still quite a lot. However the real problem in
this case is to make sure that every single program will access the
compressed files using kpathsea, which is a huge job. Not speaking
about the ones that read on stdin and so on. What we need is a cdrom
filesystem that supports compression.
