[tex-live] keeping tex live free

Barbara raises a good point. Please, whatever else happens (in re the
meeting at Bremen), let's make sure that there continues to be a TL
distribution which is entirely free software. Ok?

(Well, if dfsg starts excluding tex we'll have to come up with some
other definition, but you know what I mean :)

Thanks,
k

i'm quite pleased that there will be a discussion at the dante
meeting concerning the content and creation of the tex live and
ctan disks.

one thing that has been omitted from the discussion in these
messages, however, is the fact that ctan is not "free software",
while there has been a very serious, and successful, effort to
make tex live entirely free according to the fsf guidelines.
(i'm a lurker on the tex-live list.)

how that affects the ability to (re)distribute tex live should
really be taken into account. i don't have time to get involved
in this discussion, but hope that karl, perhaps, will bring up
this question in the relevant forum.
