[tex-live] Problems installing texlive2004 on Solaris 2.8

Hello Robert,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

    install-tl.sh: /proj/twolf/local/TeX/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf: cannot create

This makes me think that somehow the texmf/web2c directory (among
others) was created readonly, so the files couldn't get written there.

fmtutil.cnf and friends are in the file archive/bin-kpathsea.zip in the
image. If you simply unzip that file into a temp directory, does it
work? I.e., are the files created? Is the directory left read/write?

The exact command run by install-compr.sh is unzip -o -qq zipfile, but
I'd be surprised if the options make a difference.

Also, maybe try with the current unzip?

FWIW, installing with the xml scheme on a Red Hat system does work ...

Regards,
karl
