Well, I'm using the FreeBSD binaries on my system. However, I also could
use the Linux binaries on FreeBSD. I don't know if there are many users
out there using FreeBSD and the FreeBSD binaries.

I used -a in rsync which preserves time stamps.

I have:
-r--r--r-- 1 manfred manfred 1867 Sep 29 15:18 util/Makefile.am
-r--r--r-- 1 manfred manfred 19598 Sep 29 15:18 util/Makefile.in

But even if I 'touch Makefile.in' the error persists.
