Hi,
I have compiled and installed on a couple of research workstations (i386
and x86_64 archs) the latest (as of 5th October sources) TeX Live but,
unfortunately, I cannot switch my production environment to it because the
resulting PDF files which pdflatex generates do not look the same.
Please have a look at these two files:
http://www.bibles.org.uk/bugs
The file old.pdf was generated with pdfeTeX-1.11a and the file new.pdf was
generated with pdfeTeX-1.20a. Now, if you look carefully the problem is
apparent even on the first page. The first few words (Hebrew is right to
left, remember :) are missing, but the last one is correct and is in the
right place. Looking at the next few pages you will discover the same
problem. Sometimes it occurs even in the base text rather than in the
footnotes (as was the case on the first page). I used xpdf and gpdf to
view the files.
I tried to reproduce it with something easier to debug, like Greek, but
unfortunately I cannot.
Obviously I installed the fonts and everything exactly like I have done in
the earlier versions. Any ideas on what could have caused this?
Kind regards
Tigran
