It is no problem at all. If Fabrice does not want to do that, it is his 
choice. But it is *not* difficult, *nor* a lot of work. If he does not 
want to be compatible, why should the entire unix world suffer (because 
suffer it will if an incompatible syntax surfaces and I am not looking 
forward to all the support I will have to provide for people complaing 
with me that their normal operations stop working (that is, if Thomas 
removes the old syntax).

If it will be supported, I am not affected. But I still think that it 
is not fair that Fabrice wants to copy something from the unix side and 
then the unix side has to adapt to the fact that he does not want to 
support it as is. Should we also change the syntax for fmtutil and 
every other sh tool which does not use getopt?
