As I see, the main problem is to have new binaries for Windows
(from so unix oriented web2c sources).
Fabrice uploaded his sources last year and they are in the repository
and distribution. That can be a starting point. There is no need to
start from the "Unix oriented" sources. It's not like starting from
The installer can be made by some new people (Pawel Jackowski, Bob
Margolis, perhaps Klaus Hoeppner).
Ah, I'm glad to hear that!
Anyway, after my investigation, people still wait and need TL (web2c
compatible) also for Windows.
There is no question that it is desirable. No one is arguing that
point (although many people seem to think so).
The *only* point is that someone *has to do the work*. So far, no one
is. I have asked everyone I know/come across, and posted many times in
many places over the years asking for volunteers; no one has come
forward. If anyone here knows people who are skilled and interested,
please ask them!
All I'm saying is, if the choice is to release without Windows or not
release at all (and so far, that is the choice), I think we should
release without Windows. Maybe *that* will cause Windows developers to
finally come forward.
It's a volunteer effort. If no one volunteers, well, the work won't get
done. It's that simple.
