Karl,

I just wanted to report a minor problem installing the latest inst image 
(on an iMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.8). I install with the following 
command:

sudo -H sh install-tl.sh

(the -H is to prevent mktexlsr from recreating the ls-R files in my 
.texlive2006 directory, so that they end up being owned by root).

If I change the TEXMFHOME variable to $HOME/Library/texmf while setting 
up the installation options (by entering d and then 4; note that I 
literally type "$HOME", not the path to my home directory), then the 
texmf.cnf file contains the following wrong assignment:

TEXMFHOME=$HOME/$HOME/Library/texmf

This doesn't happen if I don't change the default value of TEXMFHOME 
(the corresponding line is then the usual default

TEXMFHOME=$HOME/texmf

).
