Really glad you wrote :).

I've written some wrapper scripts around ctan2tds.pl and tpm-factory.pl
and others - see http://tug.org/texlive/pkgupdate.html, which I just
wrote.  So doubtless it needs improving, let me know.  And the process
described there has itself never been used by anyone but me, so it's
likely that there are hidden assumptions in the scripts that I didn't
think of.
