Attached is a patch file with changes based on the TL source,
as checked out this morning. This trime, I have verified that
   * I can still 'make world'
   * that the executables do not segfault

There is one change needed in the core web2c: the C routine
aclose() is renamed to close_file(), and cpascal.h has an extra

   #define aclose(f) close_file(f)

The rest of the changes is in texmfmp.h (redefined #defines)
and texmfmp.c (three new functions). I'd be obliged if someone
would apply the patch and commit the code.

Cheers, Taco
