To recompile the documentation the  documentation
source needs to be included with the package  and usually it isn't. With
the source the  visually impaired can take a further step and
change the font size. That is one of the great virtues of TeX. It
is possible to publish a document in many forms with minimal
changes. I am working today on a pamphlet which is 5.5 x 8.5 inch page
size. After I finish collating cover with text, stapling and
folding the thing I will take the same source and create a 8.5 x
11 pdf for online downloading. (The third version takes a bit
more work. It is plain text.) I use the Context \startmode
\stopmode convention but the same effect could be achieved with a
little more work in other forms of TeX.  But I digress as
usual...

Which if I understand you is precisely my point. Source is
smaller and allows the reader to customize the document to
his/her needs.

Linux helps at this end, as does the 21" Sony monitor (surplus on
e-bay.)
