I just compiled TeXLive on my old machine running Slackware 7.1.

$ uname -a
Linux zarniwoop 2.2.16 #9 SMP Sun Jan 5 23:13:52 CET 2003 i686 GNU/Linux
$ ./Build --without-xetex --without-xdvipdfmx

[...]

$ ls inst/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/ | wc -l
264

Actually I installed Slackware in 2000. The kernel release is
probably less important than the libc version but I'm using a 7-year
old version of libc on that machine.

I cannot provide binaries for XeTeX and dvipdfmx because my libc is
too old and I don't get all the required libraries installed.

Regards,
  Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
