Fine, lfs.isdir("/usr/bin").  However, what can I use to distinguish OSX
from other unix-like systems?  bash-texdoc checks for "Darwin" in 
`uname -s`, but there doesn't seem any lua function which executes an
external command and returns its stdout.

Is there some file which could be used for this?
