Wrong, we are far from any release. 

I wouldn't expect a new release before March/April 2008.

Nothing has been fixed till now, but (almost) everything is possible.

That you can do already now, the texlive.tlpdb in trunk/Master is
updated daily and contains all information. Hopefully from now on
(tomorrow or day after tomorrow (overmorrow as I would say)) also the
TeX Catalogue informations are merged into the texlive.tlpdb.
