[tex-live] LaTeX takes ages to complete.

Thanks. I tried that. I found two of them and they were in
directories which were installed by MP Lib. They also had
the ~ patterns. It seems to confirm my suspision that
MP Lib is the ``culprit.''

Anyway, I've installed a new texmf.cnf and everything is grand.
