(So we can try to reproduce.)

Siep or anyone, can you try the Windows install with the TL'07 bindir in
your path to see if that is enough to cause the VM problem?  Perhaps the
installer is somewhere not using the correctly prepended path ...

Bruno, I agree that's there no immediate need to redo the 08 install
with the 07 envvars.  Thanks for being willing in case of need.
