I understand your logic, Zdenek, but surely a Win/32
"Shortcut" is no more than a binary file, the contents
of which are comprehensible to Windows but not necessarily
to anything else (such a shortcut is attached : it
will be interesting to see if it can be unmangled
on any non-Windows system).  So since binary files
do not need to be "supported" by the DVD file system,
but rather simply stored therein, I am still unclear
why it was effectively "expanded in place" rather
than copied as-is.
