All operating systems which are in use today support spaces in file
names. TeX is the most advanced software package at all. It would be
quite embarrassing if it couldn't deal with spaces in file names.

Maybe there are still bugs. But if such an old program like TeX still
has problems with spaces in file names, it's because everybody
suggests to avoid them. Developers depend on feedback from users.

*Please* install TeX Live to a directory which has spaces in its
name and complain if it doesn't work. It ***has*** to work. Period.

BTW, there is no indication that the problem "newway.liu" encountered
has anything to do with spaces in file names.

Regards,
  Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
