IIRC, the font yhcmex10 was created by Yannis as a Metafont one, The mf source
inputs bigop.mf (the original by Knuth). At some stage a virtual font was introduced
along with a Type1 version of yhcmex10; this Type1 font contains only the additions
in the range 128--255, and the virtual font addresses cmex10 for the range 0-127.

This is unfortunate, since bitmaps cannot be generated any more: indeed xdvi would
find the reference to the "raw font" yrcmex10, for which no Metafont source exists.

The original package by Yannis contained a Type1 font (yhcmex.pfa), TeX Live provides
yhcmex.pfb which says

%%Title: Yhcmex
%%CreationDate: Wed Aug 6 21:06:51 2003
%%Creator: Haruhiko Okumura
%%DocumentSuppliedResources: font Yhcmex
% Generated by PfaEdit 1.0 (http://pfaedit.sf.net/)

while the .pfa on CTAN says

%!PS-AdobeFont-1.0: Yhcmex 001.000
%%CreationDate: 28/11/98 at 20:05
%%VMusage: 1024 20755
% Generated by Fontographer 4.1.3
%
% ADL: 500 500 0

Where the .pfb comes from? What's the difference between them?

Ciao
Enrico
