Herbert Schulz reminded me of MacTeX too, which is what I installed in 2007 and 2008 without problem. I just installed MacTeX 2009 without a hitch.

The TeX Live home page lists:

  • Acquiring TeX Live: on DVD, downloading over the net, other methods.
  • Documentation and mailing lists.
  • Quick install for Unix; installation and release notes for Windows; for MacOSX, see the MacTeX distribution.

Even though MacOSX/MacTeX is on the 3rd line, my eyes just didn't see it. (My vision is OK--maybe it was just in my blind spot.) I saw "downloading over the net" on the 1st line, clicked that, and then at [1] saw install-tl.zip for Windows and install-tl-unx.tar.gz for everything else. I chose "everything else."

I suggest mentioning MacTeX again on that second landing page [1]. Beyond that, maybe a few small OS-specific icons here and there would help steer eyeballs.

All is well, and thanks to all for your hard work!

Geoff
