Is it? I don't know. I've seen it many times in batches, so perhaps
I've grown accustomed to it. But I doubt that this is the problem.
There are more places where redirection is done this way but only that
particular one is reported to cause troubles.

The new update system for Windows does not rely on any quirks or
undocumented features of cmd.exe but I cannot guarantee compatibility
with 3rd party tools.
