[tex-live] problem with tlmgr -help

Hi,

trying tlmgr -help on Linux, i've got:

root at spessart:/home/huygens# tlmgr -help
You need to install the perl-doc package to use this program.
root at spessart:/home/huygens# tlmgr install perl-doc
tlmgr: installation location
ftp://ftp.dante.de/pub/tex/systems/texlive/tlnet/2008
install: perl-doc
/usr/local/texlive/bin/i386-linux/tlmgr: Cannot find package perl-doc
tlmgr: package log updated at /usr/local/texlive/texmf-var/web2c/tlmgr.log

any hints?
