Hi everybody and sorry for the confusion. There is a bug I introduced
recently indeed.

At the moment my computer is not working very well. I sometimes get
I/O errors when reading files and it's too dangerous to upload a new
version to the repository until I have these problems solved. Don't
want to break the repo again. But, Manuel, I could send you a fixed
version of this file by mail which you can upload then.

Let me explain what happened. Formerly getnonfreefonts supported only
single paths as values of TEXMF{HOME,LOCAL}. These paths can easily
be determined by kpsewhich --expand-var. Some time ago someone asked
me to support lists of paths. He had:

TEXMFLOCAL={$SELFAUTOPARENT/../texmf-private,$SELFAUTOPARENT/../texmf-local}

Since brace expansion can be quite complicated, I didn't want to code
this in Perl (and I still don't want it) but rely on kpathsea instead.

In order to achieve this, I had to use --expand-path instead of
--expand-var. When I tested it, I had not been aware that
--expand-path only returns a list of directories which actually exist.

The TEXFHOME directory can't be created by the installer. Thus, it
doesn't exist by default. But it existed on my system because I
tested getnonfreefonts already before I made the change. That's why I
didn't notice the problem.

I think that a fix is quite easy, I just have to use --expand-var if
--expand-path doesn't return anything.

Until a fix is available, try this:

  mkdir -p `kpsewhich --expand-var=\$TEXMFHOME`; getnonfreefonts

I hope this explains the problem. The point is that --expand-path
only returns a list of directories which actually exist and I didn't
know that.

Sorry for all the trouble,
  Reinhard
