Oh, sorry, I give the wrong chapters:

"Maximally portable TeXLive on DVD and USB" (chapter 5)
"Installations" (chapter 3) [pay attention to the Net Installer]

The manual is in /texmf-doc/doc/english/texlive-en/texlive-en.pdf
