Again, I think it depends on what you intend to do with the "platform" (quite a
vague notion) information. If, as you said in the previous thread, your main
goal is to detect if you can use the cp and rm command, then Cygwin has them. If
you want to know which shell syntax to use... Hmm, I don't know, can some Cygwin
user tell us if cmd.exe or a Unix shell is used by \write18?
