[tex-live] packaging

Hi Clea,

Question: how should these files be packaged? Should they be included
in all the relevant packages? Should they be packaged separately?
Individually? (The latter would seem far too complex.)

My suggestion would be to include each file used for font xxx in the
package for xxx. That makes it easier for each font to be installed,
used, and understood individually.

To minimize the problem of duplicated files, I would put a comment in
the beginning of the file saying "this file is shared between packages
x, y, and z". Depending on how you have your own infrastructure set up
for these packages, that list could conceivably be automated, if useful.

Since (I believe) the duplicated files are only in the doc/ and/or
source/ trees, not tex/, there's no technical problem with finding wrong
versions at runtime.

Thanks for asking about it. Feel free to let me know if questions or
problems ...

Karl
