i would use rsync rather than wget in all circumstances (not just
updating). wget purports to have a "mirror" mode, but it's never worked
for me
of course, i can't say if your server actually provides an rsync
interface, since you don't say which one it is. (it ought to -- saves a
lot on bandwidth consumed; however, the largest proportion of users of
the cambridge node blindly use http -- total is >=10x the bandwidth of
ftp+rsync combined ... on a few occasions, >1 tbyte in a day).
