Yes, it was done. I did it to be sure but I doesn't change anything.

Mmmmhhh, that is probably the point. On the netbook:

$ which kpsewhich
/usr/bin/kpsewhich

It is because I used the "create symlinks in standard directories"
option during the TL install process and that, on Mandriva Linux 2010.1:

$ echo $PATH
/usr/sbin/:/opt/kde4/bin/:.:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/usr/lib/qt4/bin:$HOME/bin

and kpsewhich, from texlive Mandriva's packages (due to
dependencies), was already installed.

By changing the order in the PATH, everything is OK, now: many thanks!

So, maybe Unix users should be warned that, with "create symlinks in
standard directories" option, it is sometimes necessary
for /usr/local/bin to stand before /usr/bin in the PATH.
