Does Ubuntu have a separate path entry for texlive?  This is usually
only the case for packages installed in the /opt tree.  If yes, there
is probably a directory /etc/profile.d which contains path settings
for Ubuntu packages.  It's not advisable to change anything there
because these files are maintaned by Ubuntu's package manager.

Better *prepend* the TL2011 path to PATH in /etc/profile *after* files
in /etc/profile.d have been processed, i.e. at the end of the file.

The path to Ubuntu's TL 2010 will still be present, but doesn't hurt.
It will disappear when you uninstall the package.  If you change it,
your changes will get lost too.
