Hi,

I did an installation of TeXLive 2010 on Ubuntu 10.10 (64bit) using the
default settings from the installer-tl.
I also installed TexWorks and TeXmaker.

I created sample files using TeXWorks and TeXMaker e.g a letter
and it worked.

I use some private styles and support files which I put system wide under

/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex/local

Now I started a new file which uses 'dinbrief' from the texmf-dist tree
and...

it was not found. I got no chance to see any of these file in the search
path.

lpk at t2b-lpk-u01:/usr/local/texlive/2010$ kpsepath -v '$TEXMF'
{/home/lpk/.texmf-config,/home/lpk/.texmf-var,/home/lpk/texmf,/etc/texmf,!!/var/lib/texmf,!!/usr/local/share/texmf,!!/usr/share/texmf,!!/usr/share/texmf-texlive}

lpk at t2b-lpk-u01:/usr/local/texlive/2010$ kpsetool -v '$SELFAUTOPARENT'
/

lpk at t2b-lpk-u01:/usr/local/texlive/2010$ sudo kpsetool -v '$SELFAUTOPARENT'
/

To me it looks like $SELFAUTOPARENT is not correctly set.

Any idea?
