OK Thanks for the info. I hope we'll find a way to integrate Lua extension modules in TeX Live for next year, I think it would be an useful addition.
Regarding the non-binary part, should that go to TLContrib as well or to TeX Live? At the moment it is at http://mirror.ctan.org/systems/luatex/contrib/lualatex-platform
