[tex-live] apa6 documentation fails

The recently added package apa6 has an apparently corrupted
documentation file. Trying
texdoc apa6
opens Adobe Reader on doc/latex/apa6/apa6.pdf with an error:
"Cannot extract the embedded font "AGZXVV+LMRoman17-Regular"
If I try to continue reading, Reader reports an "error on page 1",
and is unable to display anything.
Running pdflatex on source/latex/apa6/apa6.dtx eventually succeeds
(it requires the existence of certain subdirectories) in producing
a readable PDF with an apparently extractable set of latin modern
fonts.
My version of AdobeReader is 8.1.1, operating system is WinXP SP3.
