Well, you did install it initially as root, how can you expect
that you can change *afterwards* files as normal user? Of course
you got access denied errors.

Sometimes I ask myself why people don't know the difference
between root and normal user, and why we have to do Unix consulting jobs?

Well, as long as you do not show us the failed output ... there
should be files
	jadetex.log
	pdfjadetex.log
	....
under /usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/..
etc etc,

Can you send
	/usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/pdflatex.log
?

Or first take a look for yourself, maybe there is something obvious in
it.

And by theway, the output of
	tlmgr conf
please send also!!!!!

Best wishes

Norbert
