/usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-dist/fonts/truetype/public/gnu-freefont/FreeSerif.ttf
/usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/gnu-freefont/FreeSerif.otf

etc.

But I'm pretty sure that adding both confuses other programs as well,
not only XeTeX. I totally agree that XeTeX should not create broken
PDFs, but having both OTF and TTF version installed might cause
problems to other software in one way or another.
