Oh! Thank you for this data. Then I think taring and untaring will still 
be my way, as I keep old TL distributions as a safety net ---once I was 
in a hurry to modify an ``old'' document, and I had not the time to 
investigate why I was getting different line and page brakes (later I 
found out it was a change in babel/spanish), so I reverted to TL 2007 on 
my Mac and everything went fine.
