[tex-live] texlive 2012 package installation (bug?)

No, you have a problem reading the install instructions.

You have added the path /usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/YOURARCH 
to the END (!!!!) of the PATH environment,.

So when you run
   latex
you run the latex that ships with Ubuntu 11.10 instead of the one in /usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/x86_64-linux/latex.

But why don't you stick to normal Ubuntu = Debian TeX Live since it is the same as TL 2012 DVD plus some addons!!!!

Just call
   apt-get install texlive-full
as root and you are done....

Or pu the /usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/x86_64-linux/l path *BEFORE* everything else in the PaTH env var.
