[tex-live] TeX-Live 2012 sys_info and sys_man

Hi Karl,
Regarding sys_man and sys_info prefix, here's what I'm finding:

>From Solaris'  `man'  manual page:

    In the absence of MANPATH, man constructs  its  search  path
     based  upon the PATH environment variable, primarily by sub-
     stituting man for the last component of  the  PATH  element.

i.e.,  if installed in /usr/texbin, Solaris looks for man pages in /usr/man,
which is indeed a symlink to /usr/share/man!  NetBSD follows a similar
strategy, although both use /opt instead of /usr/local, and neither has
a `manpath' command.

Debian GNU/Linux, FreeBSD and OS X all include both /usr/local/man
and /usr/local/share/man in their search path.

In short, it appears that there may be no "safe" default!  On the other
hand, If I am the only one to raise the issue, then maybe no change
would be safest?
