The VnTeX test files had been in doc/ at the beginning but I moved
them to source/ when it turned out that texdoc finds too many files
which are not really documentation.  texdoc is quite greedy.

IMO it all depends on whether texdoc should find the stuff or not.

As far as disk space is concerned, since kpathsea doesn't look for
files in the source tree (i.e. a user can't run "tex latex.dtx" in his
CWD), I don't see any reason why large test suites can't be installed
as .zip files.  If users have to copy the stuff to their CWD anyway,
it's probably even more convenient.
