I'm quite sorry that I obviously stepped on some sore point. But I
assure you that it was with no ill intent.

While I do know quite a lot of people on the "latex level" I don't
know much about the internal problems regarding history,
administration, politics and connections between CTAN, CTAN mirrors,
CTAN Website and the various TeX User Groups - I was never able to
attend one of the meetings of Dante e.V. or some other group as they
were either to far away or I was to far away (holidays).

The CTAN Website doesn't name the authors of the "CTAN Team". But it
writes that one of the main CTAN site is "http://dante.ctan.org
sponsored by the German TeX group DANTE," and in the TeXnische
Komödie I saw an article about the new Website written by someone I
have for years connected with Dante e.V. And so when Robin wrote
that I'm "ideally placed to pursue its re-creation" I jumped to the
conclusion that he meant I should do it through Dante e.V.

Well no. I find the website very good. I miss the file search as I
used it quite often to track down problems with old packages. But
that is not a problem, it is only a missing feature - if it is added
sometime in the future, it would be fine. If the author doesn't find
the time or the means: I don't expect that all my wishes are
fullfilled.
