[tex-live] LuaLatex won't finish compilation after updating Tex Live

If the advice to run 

luaotfload-tool --update

does not fix this issue, its possible that it is due to an installed font that lua does not like. (This was my experience).

To locate the font in question try

luaotfload-tool -uvvv

which will update with very verbose logging. The font causing the difficulty will be either the one listed when the process stops or the next one. You can either remove it, or simply list it in 

luaotfload-blacklist.cnf


Hope this helps. The particular font in question for me was a new version of a font contained in a preview release of a certain OS. The prior version of that font has no problem.
