[tex-live] exam + babel => latex hangs

Ah! Nice trick.

Apparently, this was caused by a babel.sty file left in
/var/lib/texmf/tex/generic/babel, from an older version of babel
(the one in Debian Wheezy, that is, 2008/07/08 v3.8m).

I don't know how that file ended up here.
Removing it fixed my problem.
