[tex-live] TL 13 -- how many maintained installations are there?

While I do not think that the number of users is decreasing, these
arguments are not persuasive:

1) Many of the packages are historic (not new), so they have been
accumulated, and the number of packages may increase even if the number of
authors decrease,
2) That the number of package authors could increase because it became
easier to write packages (I have no clue if it is so)


If I remember correctly the question "How many of TeX users are around"
appears once in a few years. The notion of TeX-user is not well defined.
Does it include only TeXLive users or includes also MikTeX users (I believe
so but then some methods to count fail those). What about s/w which exports
in TeX?
